man and woman

Dear Tuberose Friend,

We are very proud to have these flowers and bulbs available for those who really want to experience a feeling of being close to God and the awesome powers He has to tenfold things to those that will follow Him during their lives. I still get very excited when talking to others about the years I’ve grown these and what I have observed and learned about this amazing (heavenly) flower!

Sherry and I have grown these most exquisite plants for more than 30 years. Our family (my great grandmother) has grown these for over 100 years. There is something about the fragrance that will get you to grow these year in and year out. I do pray and desire that the next generation of our children will continue to grow/raise these.

We tell people that the tuberose is one of the fastest multiplying/propagating bulbs in the world! These flowers continue to get my attention throughout each growing season and hopefully will yours also. I pray and thank GOD for each day He gives me to labor in the fields. Thank you for your interest in our tuberoses grown in the hills of Tennessee.

Give praise to God daily,

A note from Sherry

lady

I would like to tell my story to you. My husband and I met over 19 years ago. We have worked very hard to make this business grow. It takes lots and lots of hard work. Anyways I would like you to know exactly what I do. I am the one who plants all the bulbs (over 10,000) which takes several months depending on the weather. We will stagger our plantings so that they will all bloom at different times during the summer. The flowers will bloom until our first freeze.

Spring is a time of new birth for everything. All the trees start to grow and the grass starts to turn green. Birds are making there nest so they can have babies. Bumble bees start coming out in search of their wild flowers. While working in the field planting the bulbs. I love to sit in the warm sun kissed dirt with a light breeze. Its a wonderful time…..

My job

My job is also to prepare the bulbs for the spring and fall planting and shipping. As I get the orders prepared it will soon be time to ship them out. When fall comes its also my job to dig them up.  This may take awhile because after digging we clip back the green foliage and store in trays and set on the front porch to dry out. We finally do store the bulbs for the winter in our bulb shed and in our crawl space under our home before the temperature gets too cold.

Once the leaves start to fall. The three of us will load up in his truck and go scouting for bagged leaves to put over the bulbs for the winter. While we are out on our scout we will stop at Hardees for breakfast. In the beginning of our early years we had three cats, Safire, Mrald,  and Onyx. They would all come out to the tuberose field when we were working. All of the cats were so cute. God allowed them to live beyond their years.

Purle

During the year 2013 that is when Purle walked into our lives. Literally. We were both out in the field working very hard and the next thing I know Derek says look honey. So I glanced over at our driveway. Low and behold there was this beautiful dog with the biggest ears. She was just standing there. So I walked out of the field and went over to our driveway fence. She got down on all fours and crawled over to me. I fell in love with her that day.

I loved everything about her. She was well trained, she was obedient, and she knew she found herself a place to live. Derek and I did try to find her owners. We went to all the vets to see if anyone was missing her but no one was. I believe that God sent her to us because she was perfect. She was absolutely perfect. All good and perfect gifts come from above.

Now the first thing we realized was that even though she is perfect she was afraid of certain noises and stuff. Our guess is that she had a bad start to begin with. We’re not exactly sure what happened to her. So Derek and I decided to give her all our love. We are now her family.

Purle is very attached to me. She is so attached that she follows me EVERYWHERE lol. She is my shadow, sidekick, comrade, my confidant. If I walk into a room and close the door, she will start whining. Purle and I walk everyday up and down our driveway. She enjoys our walks. We treat her like a four legged human. As we get older here on the tuberose farm we will still try and do all the work that needs to be done around the yard and house and tuberoses. And I know we all enjoy and look forward to each season as it comes around.

Summer time

Summer is my favorite season. Its a time to get out doors and soak up some sun. A time for the trees to be in full bloom, the summer flowers to spring forth, and mowing the grass. I thank my God for being able to do this. Time to reflect on all that God has done for us and to appreciate it. Fall is the time where we get everything ready for the winter. During the winter months Derek and I will put together 1000 piece puzzles. We normally can do 3 or 4 before we have to get back outside for spring planting and the shipping of the tuberose orders.

I hope and pray my little story will give you an uplifting message. To enjoy what God has done for each and everyone of us. Thank you for your time here and for visiting our website. We hope it will lead you to seek God out. Amen.
